Privacy Policy & SMS Terms of Service
Last Updated: June 18, 2026
This Privacy Policy and Terms of Service governs the SMS-based news notification service operated by Andrew Frank Communications ("we", "us", or "our"), based in Richmond, BC, Canada. We are committed to protecting the privacy of our subscribers - journalists and media professionals - and maintaining strict compliance with Canada's Anti-Spam Legislation (CASL) and the Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act (PIPEDA).
1. Scope of the Service
Our SMS notification service delivers real-time breaking news headlines and URL links to media advisories and news releases, directly to your mobile device. These messages are sent strictly on an assignment or informational basis related to news cycles and only reference bona fide news stories with real news value.
2. Express Consent and Opt-In
By subscribing to this service via our online web enrollment form and successfully completing the subsequent double opt-in verification message sent to your mobile device, you are providing Express Consent under CASL to receive automated text messages from us.
No Pre-Checked Boxes: Consent is only obtained through an active, positive action by you (manually checking the opt-in box on our form).
Scope: Your consent applies exclusively to the mobile phone number you provided and covers only the news notification streams you have requested.
3. Sender Identification
As required by CASL, every text message broadcast through our network will clearly identify us as the sender at the beginning of the message (e.g., using a prefix like NationWire or Andrew Frank Communications).
Our full physical mailing address and corporate contact details are available upon request using the support email below.
4. Information Collection and Data Privacy
We collect a minimal amount of personal data to effectively manage and segment this service, including your name, media outlet, reporting beat, and mobile phone number.
Strict Confidentiality: We treat journalist contact data with the highest level of security. We will never sell, rent, trade, or share your mobile number or personal data with third-party advertisers or external organizations.
Data Aggregation: We may track link click-through rates globally or by segment via our SMS delivery platform to evaluate message performance, but this data is used strictly for internal operational improvements.
5. Message Frequency and Rates
Frequency: This is a breaking news service; message frequency varies dynamically based on the active news cycle. Alerts are reserved strictly for high-value news updates.
Carrier Charges: Standard message and data rates applied by your wireless carrier (Rogers, Bell, Telus, Videotron, etc.) may apply to incoming texts and your replies. We charge no fee to subscribe or receive notifications.
6. How to Opt-Out (Unsubscribe Mechanism)
You have the right to withdraw your consent and unsubscribe at any time, completely free of charge.
To stop receiving messages, simply reply STOP directly to any text message you receive from our service.
Our system processes standard opt-out keywords (including STOP, END, QUIT, CANCEL, or UNSUBSCRIBE) automatically and instantly.
Once processed, you will receive a single final confirmation text confirming your removal from the broadcast registry, and no further messages will be sent unless you explicitly re-enroll.
7. Contact and Compliance Officer
